| When I bought my first one, they were "all the rage", and you know how much of a follower I am. I had to fit in at Z meets. Two years later I was having a starting issue, and having the battery tested at PepBoys was cheaper ($0) than buying a starter relay ($20 or so). That's when I learned they don't test them, they replace them. With the new battery I still had starting problems, so I bought a starter relay. Problem solved. So the first battery wasn't bad. My car has been sitting for over a year, and for the first few months I was pretty good about starting it regularly. That changed, and I had a dead battery. I charged it, and it seemed fine. I let it sit for too long again, charge, start, repeat. It's been on one of those fancy automatic chargers for 2 weeks. Yesterday when I took the charger off it barely started the car. I checked under the hood and noticed smoke coming from the battery. Oops. I might have cooked it myself. I'll see how this one goes. For $22, what would you have recommended? ;) I've had great service at 2 different PepBoys here in Sac. This time, I had the actual receipt. Do people that get hassled still have the receipt?
